Assignments
1. Manitoba Five Senses Poem- Create a Five Senses Poem about a favourite Manitoba destination, a Manitoba community, or just about Manitoba in general! You may need to look up some information or pictures online for inspiration! Again, feel free to choose the same community that you are doing for your research project. Follow the steps in the video and/or on the handout to help you complete your Five Senses Poem. Don't forget to send in a good copy! Don't worry if you are not able to do a good copy on the computer, just make sure your written work is neat and organized! Have fun poets!
2. Manitoba Music - Manitoba Strong

3. Research Project (Due May 1st)

~ You will be designing a PowerPoint or presentation showcasing a Manitoba city, town, or community! Here is an outline of the information that you will need to research. Once you have collected all of your research using jot notes, you will put it together in a PowerPoint or in another format, such as a poster or collage. You will need to make your presentation appealing by adding interesting titles and colourful pictures on each slide or section.
Step one: Choose a MB community - Manitoba Map - Printable or Link
Step Two: Decide how you will research your community.
Step Three: Collect information about your community.
Step Four: Once all project information is collected, decide how you will display your information.
Step Five: Check over the Research Project Checklist to ensure you have included everything you need. Project Checklist
Step Six: Send completed projects to your teacher digitally using your student email in Office 365. We are excited to see all your hard work!

Continued Skill Building
Below is the list of skill building activities we have planned for the week. It is important that students continue to practice previous skills taught in class so they don't forget and build in learning of new skills. Below is the list of skills we will be working on this week.
Daily Reading - Students will read a good fit book daily and share their thinking with someone. Students will share a weekly Book Talk video or e-mail with their teacher.

Area - Students will find the area of a regular shape using the formula Area = Length x Width.

Sum Dog - Students will need to log into their Sum Dog account to complete the "Telling Time and Area Review Challenge". ( Please ask your teacher for login information if you haven't already).
Division Facts
Students will understand that division means fair sharing between equal group.
*Watch introduction to division lesson here
* Practice dividing items at home. Use corn kernels, beans, or marshmallows to create division problems for kids to solve. Write out the division equation to match the problem.
- For example, if you have 20 marshmallows and need to share them between 4 people, how many marshmallows would each person get? 20 ÷ 4 = 5

* Continue to practice your multiplication facts often. Division and multiplication facts are related. Keep this important skill sharp. It will help in mastering your division facts. If needed, look under the "Additional Learning from Home" tab for practice ideas.
Large Number Operations - Students will add and subtract 4-digit numbers. Students will multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit using a strategy of their choice.
